About Us

   Pamela Hunt

Started riding outside Cincinnati, Ohio as a teenager and after a time as a working student in East Aurora, N.Y. , she worked for Russ Walther, Jr at Ruslin Farm in N.C. on the ‘A’ circuit , then as trainer at Valley Hunt Club in Bradford, Pa with clients showing local to ’A’ shows as well as putting on local horse shows and helping with the club’s very popular annual ’A’ horse show. In 1984 she came to the Houston area to train for Mrs. Winifred Jones for her Far Cry Stables which bred and showed hunters & jumpers in Texas and with the warmblood horses that Mrs. Jones imported from Europe. After going out on her own in 1987 she and her husband (Ricky Hunt) started up Hunt Farm in Hempstead, Tx. Hunt Farm has had many successful clients and horses that have competed on the local to the “A” shows both here in Tx and Nationally. These have included Jones Hall (originally bred at Far Cry Stables by Mrs. Jones and later owned by Mrs. Ralph Queener and Kimberly Queener), Sands Of Time (owner Mrs. Queener), Texas By A Nose (owner Norma Meakes), Double Jeopardy (owner Luckie Lady Farm).

   Ricky Hunt

Who grew up on a working cattle ranch, began as a teenager working for Mrs. Winifred Jones at Far Cry Stables where he learned about hunters, jumpers and the breeding business. Far Cry Stables stood the stallion Joe’s Lin who went on to sire many hunters that competed very successfully around the country and later sired the very successful Jones Hall. With Ricky still at Far Cry, Jones Hall came back to Texas to stand at stud where he has had many successful offspring. Jones Hall now stands in California at Glenhill Farm. After retiring from Far Cry after 30+ years, Ricky is now available for starting and backing young horses.

   Hunt Farm

Offers over 35 years of breeding knowledge and experience foaling out mares, broodmare care, handling and imprinting the foals. Weanlings and young horses are welcome and are handled with a pleasant attitude and manners are taught and expected of them in their daily routine while still allowing them to be youngsters. With many past champions in our past resume, we offer showing in hand for the hunter and sport horse in breeding classes for those young horses as well. We can continue on with a well known training program of starting and backing of many different types of horses working with each personality to maximize their potential.
With our many years of breeding, we continue to breed for top quality hunters and have a separate breeding area where we handle Fleetwood’s Bolero for breeding both live cover and AI.
Our program also offers training and lessons for adults and children wishing to show and compete at the local and ‘A’ rated hunter and jumper shows.
Hunt Farm puts on 2 GHHJA hunter/jumper horse shows each year in Bellville and Pamela judges at the local horse shows.
And there is even a place for those who want their horses to retire and live out their older days in a safe and peaceful pasture.

WE STRIVE TO BE A FUN AND SAFE PLACE FOR HORSE AND RIDER TO ENJOY LEARNING AND GROWING FROM BREEDING TO RETIREMENT AND PLACES IN BETWEEN!!
